1. Can you identify any ethnocentrism in this story? Where?
2. What about cultural relativism?
NPR's Eric Weiner tells the story of David Aldwinkle, a New York native who has taken the rare step of becoming a citizen of Japan. An outspoken man, he rejects the notion that there's one Japanese way of doing anything. And that attitude gets him into trouble sometimes. Still, Aldwinkle was able to get through the rigorous process of securing Japanese citizenship.
