GROUP PROJECT GUIDELINES

Guidelines for conducting a group project:

Team members at least $5$ students.

All group members are required to actively participate in accomplishing the project.

Duration of project: $7-12$ weeks

Selection of Case Study:

You are required to select a product that a referenced company or a hypothetical company is planning to market. The project covers the selection of product, plan & schedule activities from design to market and analyzing the economic feasibility of marketing the product. You are required to:

Analyze project selection and capacity quantity including product$/$components$/$parts that you have selected. The report should present how selection and capacity quantity been carried out. Should it be a hypothetical company, do include detail source of reference. Any assumptions made must be clearly explained. $($CLO$1,$ PO$1,$ C$4)1\%$ marks.

Evaluate the activities required starting from the design$/$formulation of the product to its market launch. Project Management technique is to be used to plan and schedule these activities. The report should present how data is collected, estimated $($such as cost & duration$)$ & analyzed, and outcome of the analysis. Use appropriate Project Management technique e$.$g network diagram and Gantt chart to show all relevant involved activities. Excel software is to be used. Any assumptions made must be clearly explained. $($CLO$3,$ PO$11,$ C$4)4\%$ marks.

Evaluate the economic feasibility of this project through the Engineering Economy analysis. Payback analysis is to be used to determine the time for the revenues$/$saving$/$other monetary benefits to recover the initial investment. Rate of return on investment also has to be determined. Conclude the findings of the evaluation. The report should present how data is collected, estimated and analyzed. Excel software is to be used. Any assumptions made must be clearly explained. $($CLO$4,$ PO$2,$ C$4)4\%$ marks.

Team Work. Project implementation $($project activities should be scheduled into a Gantt chart, specify the flow of activities undertaken, specify task assignment among group members, the actual contribution of each group member. Evidence of discussion need to be recorded into minute of meetings$)$ and selfreflection need to be included in the report. $($CLO$5,$ PO$9,$ A$3)5\%$ marks.
