Problem 5.14 A double acting duplex pump with a capacity of 500 gpm is used as a boiler feed pump. It makes 50 pumping strokes per minute with 15% slip. The distance pf the pump from the point of discharge is 10 feet and a pressure gage is located at the point of discharge is 30 psig. Boiler is 15 ft above the source of water. A total friction loss of 5 ft may be assumed. Specific gravity is 0.97. Determine: A. Total dynamic head B. Water horsepower C. Specification of the pump if L = 1.5 DL, and Ds = DL.
