Simulation Report 2 (Week 7)
Now it is time to build upon your first report to management. In a 3 - 4-page report share your journey and ideas to the management team to further foster improvements. Make sure to include an introduction that address the management team, a body that includes clear heading with supporting details with visuals and summary paragraphs letting the management team know what to look forward to in the final report. Include at least two (3) screen shots (visuals) to support our report to management.
Now that you have been working with Cincinnati Seasoning it is time to explore the chain of supply in more detail, start to explore how you can continue to expand the supply chain outside of what the study guide is providing you.
Address the following within the report:
Inventory
- Describe one (1) BIG wins in reducing inventory levels across the supply chain. Explain to management what you did and why. Show them some data and relevant screenshots to illustrate the results of your actions. Creating your own charts is also highly encouraged.
- How do inventory levels affect operating costs, production costs and ability to meet demand when it comes to providing quality customer service?
Transportation
- How does inventory levels relate to delivery schedules? How is the transportation system looking? Are there opportunities to improve. Include the changes/updates of routes and trucks for your supply chain.
- Explain why railroad transportation might be a good option if the business were to expand. Share if you were able to add it, if so what was the impact?
Inventory and Transportation
- Think about what you have learned so far regarding the tradeoffs between managing inventory levels and transportation costs. Summarize what you have learned about these tradeoffs.
Challenges
- Identify two or three challenges you encountered so far in designing and running an efficient supply chain? Make sure to provide specifics. The management teams wants to know what is happening at the different facilities.
Supply Chain Wins
- Identify one or two wins you encountered so far in designing and running an efficient supply chain? Provide specifics.
Illustrate your report with screen shots or excel spreadsheets showing supply chain maps and data displays (make use of the snipping tool in Windows 7 or other screen capture tool to capture relevant screen shots and insert them into your report). Back up your main points and findings with on screen data displays or data you downloaded from your supply chain simulations. Clearly label all visuals and reference them within your report using that label. Remember this is a report going directly to management so make sure to create a good balance between the report and visuals (no larger than 3 inches)
End the report with a closing paragraph that summarize your journey so far and opportunities for the future. It is important to gain managements attention, so they are interested in seeing whats to come in the final report.
