Since the end of World War II, China has modernized at a pace that is completely without historical comparison. China is now a great power, but one that does not share some of the convictions of the current liberal world order. Even so, its size, both in terms of population and economic potential, mean that it will be a key player in how the system operates in the future. Using at least one theory covered this semester, critique Haass' argument that China should be engaged. How should the international community address China?
