PROCEDURE OVERVIEW
In this procedure, you will design a PLC program that uses subroutines to control a motor application with an alarm.
Examine the following information.
Scenario: A bulk conveyor is used to transport raw material. Material is placed onto the conveyor by a hopper/ dispenser. The conveyor uses a sensor, PS1, to determine that the conveyor load is at an acceptable level.
Write a PLC program to control the bulk conveyor's operation. The general sequence, I/O diagram, and pictorial follow:
General Sequence
Pressing PB1 momentarily causes the conveyor motor to start.
Pressing PB2 momentarily causes the conveyor motor to stop.
Pressure switch PS1 shuts off the motor and calls an alarm subroutine whenever it senses an overload condition (closes). The alarm consists of a bell and rotating beacon light simulated by lamps 1 and 2. The motor will not start until PS1 opens and the alarm is reset.
NOTE
Selector Switch SS1 os used to simulate pressure switch PS1 in this skill.
