So a postscript to chew on here..if these statements were not used by the employees, yet the company was well run, had productive employees. I have also consulted with a number of medium sized organizations that did not have mission$/$vision statements at all$--$they just laid out the type$/$kind of work needed, job descriptions and relied on good training, shadowing$-$training, etc..and the work got done well, on time and on budget..were these platitudes of management necessary
