One of the most important brands you are ever going to have to market is yourself. The purpose of this exercise is to force you to think about yourself as a commodity and to create your own social media strategy to build your digital identity and reputation.
The deliverable will be as follows:
A written report (approx.4 pages) that addresses the following items:
Your mission statement. To help you develop your statement, consider whats important to you, who you are, what you stand for, what you like to do and what you want to do with it.(If you're struggling on where to start, try searching different organizations mission statements.)
A self-analysis. What are your strengths and weaknesses (skills and talents)? What opportunities and threats are there in the market (now and in the near future) that you can take advantage of or that could hinder your success?
Your career objectivesbe sure to specify time frames.
Identify and research your dream job and dream employerwhat are they looking for when hiring? What do you need to have/demonstrate?
You are the "product" that this company is going to buy:
What is your core product? That is, what are the key skills, knowledge, experiences that make you attractive to this company/industry?
Now what is your actual productyour talents and skills that you take for granted, that are valuable to others.
Finally, what is your augmented productthe little extras that you bring, something that others may not have that may make you more desirable?*
Promotion. This is where you identify relevant social media tools that can help promote you and build your reputation. Carefully analyze the potential platforms you can use. Identify which ones you are going to use. Explain why you selected them and how you plan to use them.
Provide a list of/access to all of your fully functioning social media platforms including relevant content that supports your personal brand strategy. Your platforms need to contain contentsimply creating a Twitter account wont get you any points, it needs to include content. By the end of the semester each platform/account must have at least 4 sequential weeks of regular activity. **If you've made other arrangements with me, please include what I've requested you include instead.
*You MUST refer to Social Media Marketing textbook for assistance.
At a minimum you are required to create:
a resume
appropriate social media accounts with content (4 sequential weeks of regular activity).
The following account is considered mandatory, but you should have 3-4 accounts:
A LinkedIn profile (picture, resume, transcripts, community service, & content)
Note: A motivated A student will identify additional relevant social media platforms to utilize.
Your report detailing items 17 and including all active hyperlinks to your social media accounts. TO DO WELL YOU MUST REFER TO THE SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING TEXTBOOK DONT ASSUME THAT YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO WRITE FOR EACH SECTION OF THIS REPORT. A poor report will result in a failing grade. You need to attach your resume.
