Solid waste management

Prepare a Municipal Solid Waste Collection and Recycling Program for a town of about 100,000 people in a country. Choose your town. The projects may be prepared in groups of up to 2 students. The project reports may be maximum 10 pages (double-sided five sheets). The followings should be presented in the report. 1. Map of the town (A4) size showing all streets (check municipality websites) (5 pt) 2. Current (real) population. Projection of the population considering a life time for the project (5 pt) 3. Total amount and composition of MSW generated (5 pt) 4. Size and number of containers required (20 pt) 5. Size, type and number of collection vehicles required (20 pt) 6. Locate a recycling drop-off center and show it on the map (5 pt) 7. Estimate the amount of materials recovered. (15 pt) 8. Show the route (on map) of collection vehicles to transfer stations. (5 pt) 9. Cost of the collection and recycling program (capital and operation costs) (20 pt) 10. Cite all the assumptions you make and write down the the reasons behind them
