The dataset for SPSS Assignment 2 can be found in the SPSS data fileLesson 21 Exercise File 2

Michelle collects questionnaire data from 40 college students to assess whether they have a positive attitude toward political campaigns. She asks them to rate five statements about campaigns on a 5-point Likert scale (1=disagree to 5=agree). She also has information on respondents' political party affiliation (politic with 1=Republican and 2=Democrat). The following identifies each item on the scale.

att1 - Use of inappropriate tactics in campaign strategies

att2 - Candidates address the issues

att3 - Accurate presentation of candidate's political agenda

att4 - Focus on issues relevant to the average citizen

att5 - Honesty in making campaign promises

First, reverse scale (score)att1.

Second, compute total attitude scores (call the new variable totatt) from the scores for the five attitudinal items. The total attitude scores should reflect whether students have a general positive or negative attitude toward campaigning.

Then compute descriptive statistics on the total attitudinal scores (totatt). From the output, identify and submit the following:

1. skewness
2. mean
3. standard deviation
4. kurtosis

Compute descriptive statistics on the total attitudinal scores (totatt) for each of the two political parties (political). From the output, identify and submit the following:

5. mean and standard deviation for Republicans

6. mean and standard deviation for Democrats

7. Also submit a histogram from SPSS to show the distribution of the total attitude scores for each of the two political parties.
