Stages in Team Development

This exercise will identify the developmental stages of groups and teams.

A strong understanding of the growth stages of a group over time is important because what a group is capable of achieving depends in part on its stage of development. Knowing that it takes considerable time for work teams to get up and running helps supervisors have realistic expectations for new teams. They will know to be patient and to offer appropriate help at each stage.
