Every customer allows some sulphate content, buttheoretically there should be none. The usual customer specification is $90$ parts per million$($ppm$)$ sulphate. The quality control department at Georgian Chemical feels that there is noproblem with sulphate content, which has been averaging approximately $50$ ppm$.$ Theproduction department estimates that a substantial investment would be required to lowerthe amount of this contaminant. These two departments, after consulting with the marketingdepartment and customers, suggest that a control chart be set up to monitor sulphatecontent.

The September data is to be used to establish control limits for this process $($note: fromhistorical data, Georgian Chemical knows that the process standard deviation is $12\mathrm{.}87$ ppm$).$With the control limits in place, Georgian continues to monitor the process for the first $10$days of Octobe.
