Statistics might help us understand better the deforestation situation In America. The American woodland environment has undergone major change as a result of deforestation. According to the U.S. Forest Service (2021), approximately 36,000 square miles of forests were lost between 1620 and 2019, primarily due to agricultural expansion, urban development, and infrastructure projects. But the US has also put a lot of effort into reforestation and afforestation. The country added almost 58,000 square miles of forest in the last 15 years.
