There are 700 homes in the commu- nity, with 60% of the homes in Section I and 40% in Section II. A list of the 700 homes was constructed with those from Section I listed first, followed by the homes in Section II. The homes on this list were then labeled from 1 to 700. A simple random sample of 30 homes was selected from those in Section I. A simple random sample of 10 homes was selected from those in Section II. (a) What kind of sampling technique was used to select the 40 homes that were included in the study? (b) Using your calculator with a seed value of 75 or the random number table (starting at Row 13, Column 1), give the labels (in order) of the first five homes selected from Section I. (c) The average size (in square feet) of the selected homes in Section I was 2100 and in Sec- tion II was 2600.
