Question: Step 1 Pick one example product that you use in your every day life. Document all the steps you think could be in the manufacturing

Step 1
Pick one example product that you use in your every day life.
Document all the steps you think could be in the manufacturing process flow (in a logical
format). This would be your value stream map of the product flow.
Use shapes and arrows to show the flow of steps as described in class. Do not just list out in
words.
This step will require you to do an internet search of the manufacturing process for the item
you selected. You should ONLY use the internet for this step. Please document the website
you got your information from in this section.
Step 2
Examine your process flow from step #1 and show corrections/changes on how you could make
it more efficient. Use the discussion from class and information found in the text to help you.
ALL processes could be improved in some way. Document minimum 3 improvements/changes.
Make sure to document the second iteration of the flow with the changes made. Show your
changes in a different colour, or some other method to differentiate it.
DO NOT use the internet for this step. Use your mind, imagination, and what we discussed in
class.
This step should show the NEW flow with the changes.
Step 3
Answer the following questions:
1. Were you able to reduce or eliminate any form of waste? Do your changes impact the
time to manufacture?
2. Explain the goals of lean production and how you used these in your VSM above
