To help attorneys understand what is expected of them, the American Bar Association (ABA) has provided significant guidance in the areas of legal ethics and professional responsibility. The ABA has developed professional standards intended to serve as models for state bar associations and to guide legislative bodies focused on ensuring ethical behavior among attorneys.
