STEP ONE: Select an article describing a current issue in the U.S. legal environment of business.
(a) Find a current news article on a topic we have studied or will study this semester. Use a recognized business source. Current means the publication date is after the start of our long semester, in a summer semester, within the past 30 days from the start of the summer term.
(b) Ideally, use one of these publications: New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, Houston Chronicle, Texas Monthly, Wall Street Journal, Houston Business Journal, Bloomberg, The Economist, and Los Angeles Times Business section.
(c) The article must describe problem actions/conduct (illegal, unethical, or both) committed by a U.S. non-government business entity. That is, the conduct described must have legal and ethical implications such that the conduct is causing a problem for the business, its customers, the industry or the public at large.
(d) The articles topic must be relevant to U.S. business professionals who are in charge of making management decisions for a non-government business, or who practice a profession such as a CPA or attorney or Compliance and/or Ethics Officer.
