Steps for Civil Engineering, Structural Analysis
The figures show an apartment
building, which structural system is
concrete bearing wall with special shear
walls. It is located in flat terrain, with
buildings, homes, and trees around it.
The soil is "Very Dense Soil". Based on
ASCE 7-16, do the following:
a) Determine the seismic equivalent
static forces to be applied on each floor.
Use 740 kips of weight for each
intermediate floor and 680 kips for the
roof.
b) Determine the wind load pressure at
the main structural system assuming
the building is enclosed, evaluated at
each principal direction (x and Y). Do
not consider the stairs for the analysis.
L=10ft
