Store Check Preparations - In Class Team Workshop
Week 5
raditional Retail
You will want to include, at a minimum the following for traditional retail stores. Be sure to assess your key competitive products as well as your own:
(NOTE: Top 4 competitors must be consistent on all sheets)
1) Price: be sure you collect price/ml, or price/gm so your price comparisons are valid
2) price discounts: how much, how long; be sure you collect the information consistently for example % off, or $ off
3) in-store promotions: B1G1F, contest, coupon, etc.
4) merchandising: displays, shelf wobblers, posters, in-store advertising etc.
5) self presence: facings, inventory, shelf level (top, middle, bottom, end-of-aisle), out of stocks
6) visual impact of packaging (sliding scale ranking 1 to 5)
The above is intended to provide direction. Make your own list of elements to assess based on your product and competitive products. Be sure your store check sheet is designed to be easy to use, easy to collect, accumulate and analyze the data.
