Student teams will be assigned a comprehensive case that requires analyzing a business situation, identifying the key issues and answering the key questions that relates to the usage/alignment/integration of an ERP system to a business. (You will be provided 2 sample cases that can be chosen as your subject material, otherwise teams can choose their own preferred cases for the study) Each team will make a brief presentation to the class to discuss key issues and results before the end of the term. The case study assignments should be prepared as a paper. The written paper should be at least 10 pages, excluding the Appendix. The paper will be addressed to the firm's senior executives as well as the key stakeholders described in the case. It will focus on the use of information technology and/or information as a competitive weapon. The paper will include background information about the case as well as the analysis and discussion of key issues and problems in the case. It is suggested that the case analysis paper be organized as follows: 1. Introduction several paragraphs on what the case is about 2. Case Background (use subheadings; use text as well as bullets) Salient facts about the case (use relevant IT Management frameworks to analyze the industry and the company) Economy and industry Company attributes: 1. Business strategy 2. Strength/Weakness/Opportunity/Threat (SWOT) analysis 3. Organizational structure 4. Culture 5. IT architecture 3. Problems and Key Issues raised in the case Detailed Answers to the Questions assigned for this case (Write/Type the questions then answer them) 4. Case Analysis Alternative Solutions to the above problems with Pros and Cons for each alternative (use relevant IT management frameworks in your analysis) 5. Management Recommendations Recommended solution and rationale
