Students will respond to an Olympic RFP for one event only. Each event can be held anywhere in the United States.

Student can select their own event but event needs to be a CURRENT Olympic event. Students should research requirements for their assigned event and select whichever market makes the most sense.

Note: Students will only be searching for the best host city for their one event, not the whole set of events included in the Olympics.

For example: a student may select: Ice-skating. Student should then research the requirements of hosting Olympic Ice skating and then select a market that makes sense as it fits the requirements. Then, they pretend to work for the CVB and make their pitch video and write their paper. Please keep in mind everything you have learned in this class when doing this project.

Part 1: Paper

Students will write a 5 page paper, in APA format, double spaced, Times New Roman, Font size 12. Cover page, Abstract, and reference page are excluded from 5 page requirement. It should follow this:

Title Page (1 page)

Executive Overview/ Abstract Page (This section has 5 sentence maximum)(1 page)

Paper Content (No longer than 5 pages)*

References (Must have 8 references for paper, in APA format. You should have a reference page for your selected CVB also) (1 page)

Appendices (multiple appendices are allowed but only include what is important)

*Areas Students should research and address in their paper:

Air lift

Hotel needs

Public Transportation needs / Traffic

Infrastructure

Climate of city and time of year

Sporting Facility needs: For example: Rowing, Ice Skating, Curling, Track and Field, Swimming, ETC

Part 2: Video

Students should develop a video to pitch their city for the event. They should portray their CVB and explain the reasons their city should be chosen. The video must only be 2-3 minutes. It should be professional, and recorded so the audio can clearly be heard.
