Students will select a popular press article (from BizBash.com, MeetingsToday.com, CNN, Press-Citizen, or a similar news source) that is based upon a recent development in MEEC or topic that has implications for MEEC and write a one page single spaced page summary that includes the following content. For a student to earn full credit, the topic may NOT pertain to events that feature sport competition or physical activity. The paper must provide:
- An overview of the topic including a brief description of the issue discussed or surrounding the main theme of the article.
- Implications for similar and/or related events and the MEEC industry. In other words, why is this issue important to the industry and what potential considerations should an industry professional be mindful of related to it?
- Lastly, provide an opinion regarding the issue - is this an issue that will have short or long-term implications and what are additional circumstances that may influence that?
To be considered for full credit, proper spelling and grammar is required. Students must be concise and cover this information in no more (and probably not less) than one page, singled-spaced, using 12 point Calibri or Arial font and 1 inch margins. Students should cite the source for the article using correct APA style format - yes - look it up!! That's what computers are for :-) Students should also provide a link to the article OR submit an uploaded PDF of the article itself so the instructor has the opportunity to read it. Students must submit assignments via ICONs Submit Assignment function that corresponds to the assignment description. All submissions are subject to Turnitin plagiarism review.
