Subject Project CVLE 566
Consider a 3-story reinforcing concrete frame building; the floor height is
equal to 4.0m. The building used as general shopping center.
The columns located at the intersection lines. The sizes of the columns
(three each on lines A, B and C) are 450450mm, for the ground floor, and
400400,300300 consecutively for the two highest stories.
One typical floor shown below formed as two-way solid concrete slab, the
span from center to center in x direction equal to 7.5m and the span in Y
direction equal to 7.5m.
The beams are supporting the slab and have a span equal to 7.5m from
(c. to c.), the beam dimension is equal to 250700 typical.
The floor supports ceiling, ductwork, and lighting fixtures plus ceramic
floor tile and partitions as equivalent to a uniform load, the total dead load
equal to 11.5kNm2 and live load 4.8kNm2. Use LRFD factors load 1.2
and 1.6 consecutively to determine the uniform load on the slab.
The lateral load due to earthquake equal to 1600kN starting from the roof
and 1200 and 800kN consecutively.
Use middle frame along line B as typical to do your analysis.
1- Built the local stiffness matrix for each member.
2- Built the global stiffness matrix plus the fixed end moments vector.
3- Determine the reactions and the moments at the supports.
4- Draw the axial, shear and bending moment diagrams, for the beams and
the columns of the building.
