Submission for this assignment will be in the form of two individually written technical reports.

You should write for a target audience of senior & middle management within your organisation.

The reports should be written in a concise engineering technical report style, using single spacing, font size $12$ and sub$-$

headings. The reports are likely to contain written descriptions, explanations, annotated diagrams, and evidence of

research. You should ensure that any research or supporting evidence is referenced using the Harvard referencing

system.

The recommended word count for the submission is $2000-3000$ words. You will not be penalised for exceeding the total

Scenario

You are a quality engineer working for a tyre company. A dealership has reported receiving a complaint from a

customer who has reported receiving batches of tyres with incorrect and in some cases, illegal tread depth values.

The company's quality specification for tyre tread depth is $8\mathrm{.}5mm+-0\mathrm{.}5mm.$

Your company is concerned about quality control issues within the tyre production area and has asked you to

investigate and report on the situation.

The following table shows the depth $(mm)$ of the tyres received in $5$ batches each of size of $4$ :

Task $1-$ Tools & techniques used to support quality control

In your response to your company, produce a report which reviews the appropriate quality tools and techniques

that could be used to support quality control within the business and explain the role and effectiveness of the tools

and techniques that you have identified.

Task $2-$ SPC techniques

Using SPC techniques, analyse the data, calculate and report your findings.

Within your report you should describe the processes and applications of SPC and suggest justified

recommendations for the application of SPC to the business.
