The rule of autonomy or respecting each person's right to make their own choices, is something I will highlight in my work. People who face domestic violence often lose control of their lives, and I aim to help them regain it. Keeping things confidential and making sure they agree to share their stories are key. Trust is built by respecting privacy and ensuring they join in willingly and we avoid hurting them again. I will ensure survivors have a say in making programs and rules for their benefit. Autonomy protects them and adds real value to our advocacy. The rule is beneficence, about doing good and putting those we serve first. It is about genuinely wanting to help, not for our gain or because it is politically handy. I aim to make mental health care better for survivors by pushing for more access to therapy that understands their trauma in Richmond. This means working with health pros, local groups, and lawmakers. I will use solid research to make my points and ensure the changes meet the community's needs. Beneficence makes our efforts meaningful, moral, and effective. Fidelity, our third rule, means sticking to our cause. Advocacy can be hard and take time, facing issues like insufficient money or changing political focus (Kandpal et al., 2024). I will stay focused on boosting trauma-aware mental health help for survivors, no matter what. For example, even when the big talk is about mental health reform for everyone, I will keep stressing the specific needs of domestic violence survivors. Trust comes from being steady with everyone involved, from survivors to community partners. Fidelity guides our work toward lasting, meaningful changes rather than short-term attention.
