Summative assessment 2 (20%) Reflection Journal (20%): Due date on 16/01/21 This will be an individual assessment. You are expected to maintain and ultimately turn in a "reflection journal". At the beginning of the semester, you are expected to identify challenges you are currently experiencing in your professional life or foresee will experience as you move up the corporate ladder. These challenges should be related to group and individual processes and behaviors at your workplace and not so much of technical skills related to your job. Dealing with problematic colleagues, motivating subordinates, motivating yourself, understanding yourself, managing teams, diversity, and so forth are all appropriate concepts to consider. From the list of challenges, identify ONE pressing problem that affects your professional effectiveness. Discuss the identified problem with your lecturer to confirm its suitability. The selected issue should remain the anchor of your discussion in your reflection journal. Throughout the course, record and discuss in your reflection journal how various concepts presented in the course help address the problem identified. You must apply the concepts and theories from the course to your own career rather than merely expressing an opinion. Also discuss how you plan to improve, how you manage each characteristic or how you will build your skills in each area over the next year. Be specific as to what you will do, and take your insights seriously in improving yourself in the areas you choose. At the end of the quarter (for grading) you will be asked to turn in a typed version of your "reflection journal" which discusses the challenges, success, and weakness of theories and concepts presented in this course when used to address the identified problem. Your final journal should be between 2-4 single spaced typed pages, using Arial-font 11. Journals will be primarily evaluated on your integration and application of relevant management concepts, as well as your overall effort (that is, did you keep up with your journal throughout the semester as required).
