SUNJECT: HR ANALYTICS (GERNERAL MANAGEMENT)
REFERENCE: Handbook of Regression Modeling in People Analytics. McNulty, K. (2021).
Collecting Data
For this activity, be sure to submit both your responses to the questions in this document, as well as a shareable link to your Google Form survey.
- In this activity, you will be creating a short employee survey and/or rating form.
- Create a set of three hypotheses/research questions (3 total not 3 of each), that you would be interested in investigating at your place of employment (you can also use previous employment, or at a well-known organization youre familiar with or have seen a recent news story on). Note, the hypotheses/research questions need to be based on information we can collect through employee surveys or (performance) rating forms.
- List out the variables you need to collect based on your hypotheses/research questions. Generally speaking, there should be at least 2 variables for each hypothesis. However, one variable could be used in multiple hypotheses/research questions.
- Create your Google Form survey(s). Note, if you have both employee questions (e.g., asking the employee about their satisfaction), and performance rating form question(s) (e.g., how would you rate the performance of this employee?), you will need to create two separate forms. One you would send to employees, and one you would send to the supervisors as well as a way to link the two surveys (e.g., employee ID).
- Provide the shareable links to your Google Forms survey(s).
- Fill in your survey(s) about 5-10 times (feel free to have others fill the survey in as well so there are more responses).
- Download your data as an Excel or .csv file and review it.
- What do you notice about the data? Would you be able to easily summarize this data with your existing knowledge or Excel, why or why not?
