Question:
Suppose that you are required to design a system to track the movement of equipments inside an office building using a wireless or hybrid wirelesswired network. The number of office buildings, rooms and number of floors in the building are scalable. A smart card will be attached to the equipment to enable monitoring. Information about all the equipments and the buildings in which they are installed will be available at a central location. The equipments cannot be moved across buildings. Authorized personal should be able to query for any equipment at any time and near realtime info should be available and can be access through a dedicated application designed for viewing.
On querying it should be possible to receive location updates about the node at an interval of seconds till the query is terminated. Periodic data is not collected from equipments and only ondemand data collection is made. Note if there are x equipments per floor of a building, x additional nodes may be deployed to have internet access. There will be atleast nodes per floor. Smart cards will not have direct access to internet.
Mention the overall network architecture for achieving the same. You can draw a diagram to illustrate the same. All wiredwireless networks selected including the type of communication technology should be indicated
Mention the deployment strategy of gatewaysrouters if required additional nodes within floor, rooms, corridors, or any other place as per the demands of the application.
Mention specific design objectivesoptimization goals for the network if any
Mention the layers of the OSI reference model which is required in the nodes tags and any other type of mote used in the system
Mention the required protocols such as timesync localization, routing, Medium access, and so on Application layer protocol need not be mentioned.
Note: Design aspects deployment nodes, protocol selection, design considerations, how the objectives are met, various technologies should be detailed as much as possible. The choices should be well justified. Mention relavant aspects which justifies its use in the design Highlight assumptions if any
