The South African Reading Institute for the Blind $($SARIB$)$ is dedicated to transforming the accessibility of knowledge and information for the blind and visually impaired community in South Africa. Our mission is to ensure that every blind and visually impaired individual has equitable access to information, thereby fostering a culture of reading and literacy that can enhance socio$-$economic empowerment and integration into society.

We aim to foster socio$-$economic empowerment and cultivate a culture of reading and literacy, thereby improving the quality of life for these individuals and promoting their active participation in society.

Long Term Objectives

$1.$ National Expansion

SARIB aims to expand its reach across South Africa by establishing mini$-$institutes in various regions. This expansion will involve setting up local centers that provide accessible reading materials and resources, ensuring that blind and visually impaired individuals in both urban and rural areas can benefit from our services.

$2.$ Government Collaboration

We plan to enhance our collaboration with government entities to secure sustained support and funding. This will involve working closely with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, as well as other relevant governmental bodies, to ensure that our initiatives align with national priorities and receive the necessary backing.

$3.$ Infrastructure Improvement

Continuously improving our infrastructure and services is crucial to meeting the evolving needs of the blind and visually impaired community. This includes upgrading our facilities, adopting new technologies for accessible information dissemination, and ensuring that our resources are up$-$to$-$date and user$-$friendly.

We aim to promote reading and literacy development through innovative programs and partnerships.
