Synab Construction, operating in the Caribbean, must decide on the location of its home office. Clients are primarily in six countries and there are four potential sites for home office: Jamaica, Barbados, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Business is growing across the region. Some countries are doing extremely well, having a greater volume of business than others. This may mean an increase in storage areas at some locations so they can supply neighbouring countries if the need arises. The company is concerned, however, about recent political challenges in a few countries that might impact business activities. It also has to take into consideration natural disasters, occurrences of which may affect communication. In addition, the pandemic which has been around for nearly two years has made economic activity quite unpredictable. Planning may prove to be difficult, but the company could suffer loss if it does not engage in making forecasts. Not much has been done in this area and a few countries have been receiving complaints from customers. Clients still expect Synab to deliver when they need supplies.
