A side frame system $($ABCDE$)$ of this building will be designed.

The loadings transmitted from the slabs of the building to the frame system $($ABCDE$)$ are calculated as seen in Figure c$.$

STEP $1$:

Select the proper frame system for the design of the frame system ABCDE.

The alternatives for this system are as given in Figure d$.$

Explain the reason for your selection.

State whether the frame systems ire stable or unstable.

Then, explain the reason for the se ection that you made in STEP$1).$

STEP$2$:

Apply all loadings, given in Figure c on the proper frame system that you selected in STEP$1.$

Then,

a$)$ Calculate the support reactions of the frame system

b$)$ Calculate the axial force $($N$),$ the shear force $($V$)$ and the bending moment $($M$)$ functions for each loading regions of $t$ he frame system.

c$)$ Draw the axial force $($N$),$ the she ar force $($V$)$ and the bending moment $($M$)$ diagrams for each loading regions of tl e frame system.
