System documentation can be grouped into product and process documentation. Product documentation describes the product being developed and how the new system is effectively used. Process documentation captures the development and maintenance activities related to the processing of the proposed new system. Product documentation can also include training and tutorial materials to assist with end users becoming knowledgeable with respect to capabilities and use of the new system.

To Prepare for This Discussion

1. In an initial post, describe the various types of required system documentation and explain why this documentation is needed. Justify your response.
2. Identify at least two different methods for making documentation available to users or the system development team members, and the advantages and disadvantages of each method (e.g., written documents, web-based, multi-media, etc.).
