Systems thinking can be a plan that looks at systems utilizing a holistic lens with an emphasis on how components of systems are interconnected (Thelen et al., 2023). Thus, the application of systems thinking can be beneficial when employed and utilized to help inform public health systems (Gadsby and Wilding, 2024). A recent study was conducted emphasizing how systems thinking can be used for the improvement of public health outcomes utilizing the COVID-19 pandemic as a case study to affirm the necessity for a more holistic concept to decision-making in public health emergencies (Ashby et al., 2023)
