SURV 2221
Lab 5- Fieldnote calculation - Completed DMD sheet
Due date and time as listed on Lab Syllabus.
Labs received after due date and time results in grade of zero (0)- no exceptions
Depending on the lab, you have a minimum of nine (9) days to complete from the time it is released on D2L.' Successful students will submit earlier than due date and time.
Deliverable:
Completed DMD sheet which will have the following on it:
a. Show initial latitudes and initial departures (to 4th decimal place)
b. Show sum of horizontal distances
c. Show residuals of initial latitudes and initial departures
d. Show Linear Misclosure (LM) calculation
e. Show Linear Error of Closure (LEOC) calculation
f. Show adjusted latitudes and adjusted departures (to 4th decimal place)
g. Show adj, bearings (round to nearest whole second) and adj. distances (round to 2nd decimal)
h. Show Area Calculation in square feet (round to nearest whole foot); acres (round to 3rd decimal)
Step 1- Additional Instruction Information:
Make sure to write your Lab Section, Name, and Date on the DMD sheet
Calculations you need to show are your LM, LEOC and Area Calculation
Step 2- Computation of Initial Latitudes and Initial Departures:
You don't need to show each initial latitude and initial departure calculation, just fill in the blanks on the template.
You need to show your LM calculation and LEOC calculation and your Area Calculation.
Using the given bearings and given distances for each line compute the initial latitudes and initial departures
Solve for the residuals in initial latitudes and initial departures (to 4th decimal place)
Solve for sum of distances (to 2nd decimal place)
Compute the Linear Misclosure - LM -(round to 4 th decimal place)
Compute the Linear Error of Closure - LEOC -(round to nearest whole number)
Step 3- Computation of Adjusted LatituAtes and Adjusted Departures:
You don't need to show each correction calculation, just make sure you show your corrections in the template.
You don't need to show each adj. latitude and each adj. departure calculation, just fill in the template.
Using the residuals and the sum of the distances, compute the corrections and solve for the adjusted latitudes and adjusted departures (round answers to 4 th decimal place)
Step 4- Computation of Adjusted Bearings and Adjusted Distances:
You don't need to show each adj. bearing and adj. distance computation, just fill in the template.
Using the adjusted latitudes and adjusted departures, compute the adjusted bearings (round to nearest "whole second") and adjusted distances (round to 2nd decimal place)- place in template above given bearing and distance
Step 5- Coordinate Calculation:
You don't need to show each coordinate calculation.
For delta 1 use: N1=1000.0000 and E1=1000.0000
Using the adjusted latitudes and adjusted departures, compute and show the northings and eastings for delta 2, delta 3 and delta 4 delta 2, delta 3 and delta 4
Step 6- Computation of Area in Square Feet and in Acres:
For the area calculation, you can just show the sums of your cross-multiplication - no need to show each crossmultiplication calculation).
By the cross-multiplication method, use the coordinates you computed to solve for the area in square feet (round to nearest whole foot), then convert and show the area in acres (round acres to 3 nd decimal place)
