Target Case.

Tennessee has numerous cases dealing with the construction and interpretation of contracts.

One case deals with the enforceability of a contract that is missing a key piece of information $-$ the price.

A summary of the case is as follows:

A couple $($referred to as Plaintiffs$)$ had a contract with an option to purchase land at a fair price from another couple $($referred to as Husband and Wife$).$ Husband died first followed by Wife. The land was inherited by Wife's children $($the Defendants$).$ Defendants desired to sell the land, found an unrelated buyer, and notified Plaintiffs to exercise their option to purchase the land or it would be sold to the unrelated buyer. A disagreement occurred, and the land was sold to the unrelated buyer. Plaintiffs sued in Tennessee to have the option enforced. The Trial Court ruled in favor of Defendants and the Court of Appeals affirmed.
