Purpose of Assessment

This assessment will assist you to conduct a Performance Enhancement Plan (PEP) with an individual staff member.

Role Play - What do I Need to do?

You are the Assistant Director at Safe Haven Early Learning Centre. You need to conduct a Performance Enhancement Plan with one staff member.

  1. Find a classmate to participate with you. They will play the staff member in a Performance Enhancement Plan that you will conduct with them.
  2. When conducting the PEP please ensure that you:
  • Work collaboratively with the individual to agree on performance improvement and development plans and document in accordance with organisation policies;
  • Monitor and evaluate performance and provide feedback on an ongoing and regular basis;
  • Identify and provide additional support or referral when required, in accordance with role and organisation procedures; and
  • Use a leadership style which supports the organisation's mission, objectives and values.

Implementing the process

  1. Give the PEP template (Template A) to your classmate and have them complete the questions about their own workplace before your role play.

  1. Collect and review their PEP prior to your meeting (role play) as a 'Manager'.

  1. During the meeting you will go through the PEP and work with them to develop goals, recording them on Template B below.

  1. Identify and provide additional support or referral in accordance with role and organisation procedures and record on Template B below.

  1. Using your team member's and your self-evaluation, reflect and complete Template C below.
