Task $1$: Write your resum$$

Find an electronic job posting for an entry$-$level position in the retail or service industry and copy and paste the job description into a word document. Imagine you are pursuing the job and prepare a cover letter and a resum$$ to apply for this position. You can include a fake address and phone number, if you prefer to protect your privacy.

Follow the "Resum$$ success criteria" when completing this task.

Task $2$: Explain your choice of resum$$ format

Did you opt to prepare a chronological resum$$ or a functional resum$$ and why? In a separate document, briefly explain your choice of resum$$ format, describing how you feel it highlights your suitability.

Task $3$: Write your cover letter

Reflect on the "Personal Skills Summary" you created in the previous learning activity, looking for the best way to showcase your Employability Skills. Then, using the "Cover letter success criteria," prepare a cover letter that directly responds to the job you have selected to apply to$.$

Task $4$: Create a retail display area

Imagine that you have applied for a job in a retail store. During your first interview, the potential employer has asked you to participate in a short assignment that they will use to determine if you are the right candidate for the store. Your project is to create a visual display for their store. They would like you to prepare a document including some visual ideas of what your proposed display will look like and your explanation of how it will attract customers and keep them in the store. To complete this project, you will need to:

Search the Internet for some visual displays that are similar to the one you have in mind for the store and$/$or use a sketching program to create your own display area. Or$,$ you can take some pictures of a similar location that you will use as a model for your own display.

Decide what type of visual display you are going to create, explaining your choice.

Brainstorm and create a few different sketches of what your display will look like.

Identify where the display will be located within the store, explaining your choice.

Identify the items you want to use in your display and provide the merchandise classification for these items.

Task $5$: Assemble and submit your complete portfolio
