Task 2:
Analyse a beam model using different element types and compare the results. A nkPa load is acting downward along the top, where n is the last three digits of your SQU ID number. (for instance, for student 140174,n is 174). The left end is fixed and the right end is simply supported. Material steel (AISI 4130). Length of the beam is 2.5 m along y -axis. The crosssection is rectangular (1310-3m along z -axis & 610-3m along x -axis) Use following elements in ANSYS and fill the table below.
a)1-D beam element: Convert the 600 kPa surface load over the width to a 3,600Nm distributed load.
b)2-D beam element: The pressure is applied as a 600 kPa surface load along the top edge.
c)1st Plate element: Model 2.5m1310-3m dimension and enter a thickness of 610-?3m. The pressure must be converted to forces on top edge as follows:
i.(Length/# of elements along edge)* Width * Pressure = Force
ii. Force/2 located at the ends.
d)2nd Plate element: Model 2.5mx610-3 dimension and enter a thickness of 1310-3. The pressure is applied as a 600 kPa surface load.
e) Brick: The pressure is applied as a 600 kPa surface load.
