Task 6 Improving a process To complete this part of the assessment you will be required to plan, implement, check a testing procedure based on one of your laboratory classes. You will not be required to ACT on this improvement. You will note this is the quality improvement technique introduced by Deming called the PDCA cycle. The aim of this task to is to improve an understanding of a manual procedure, or SUP to be used in one of your laboratory classes. Your choice of procedure must be one you will be doing in class. You can choose any upcoming scheduled practical. Please note: Do not change the instructions as set out in your manual. Do not add in extra steps or delete steps. The purpose of this task is to improve your understanding so that you find the procedure easier to follow. 1. PLAN read through your practical instructions. Construct a flow diagram of the steps, making note of key times, or steps, temperatures etc. Include any delays or any points in which you will need to make observations. 2. Show your class teacher your flow diagram to check you haven't made any mistakes or missed any key steps. 3. DO - implement your plan. Follow your flow diagram {keep your manual instructions open for reference for more detail]. 4. CHECK did the flow diagram improve your understanding or practical requirements, and for work flow?
