Task Description

In this assignment, you will engage in a practical Building Information Modelling $($BIM$)$

project using AutoDesk Revit software. There are two parts to this assignment. For part

$1,$ your task is to create a detailed BIM model of a residential building that captures all

essential architectural and structural components. For part $2,$ you are to write a $1500-$

word project report that describes the BIM design project and documents your modelling

process. This report should effectively communicate the rationale behind your design

decisions and showcase your ability to use Revit in a professional context, resembling

the type of documentation and detailed analysis expected in real$-$world architectural

projects.

Part $1$: Create a BIM Model of a Residential Building

Follow the steps below to create your BIM Model in Revit

Step $1$: Select a Residential Building

Choose a residential building that interests you or one for which you have access to

detailed information. This could be a real building project, a theoretical design, or a

model provided by your instructor. The selected building should be of a manageable size

and complexity for the scope of this assignment. Typically, a small to medium$-$sized

residential building, such as a single$-$family home or a multi$-$unit apartment building, is

appropriate.

Step $2$: Create a BIM Model in Revit

Use Revit software to develop a BIM model of the residential building. Ensure your model

includes architectural and structural components. All components, such as walls,

doors, windows, roofs, floors, stairs, and interior fixtures, should be included in the

model.

Step $3$: Document the BIM Model

Generate detailed floor plans, elevations, sections, and $3$ D views from your Revit model.

Ensure these files and documents accurately represent the key aspects of your BIM

model and are organised clearly and professionally. Export the documentation in

appropriate formats such as PDF or JPEG. These documents will be included in your

project submission and referenced in your project report to support your descriptions.
