Task One

We discussed the new social contract in the class. We all agreed that the recent economic downturn has accelerated the erosion of the old social contract. Take each of these points and illustrate with practical examples as we talked in the class.

We cant promise you a lifetime employment.

We cant promise you how long well be in business.

We cant promise you that we wont be acquired.

We cant promise that therell be room for promotion.

We cant promise that your job will exist when you reach retirement age.

We cant promise that the money will be available for your pension.

We cant expect your undying loyalty, and we arent even sure we want it.

Task Two

IDEAS by Gul Ahmed wants to hire a Marketing Manager for the group and a Manager for IDEAS branch at Dolmen Clifton. As they are into the recruitment phase, they are asking you to develop a Job Analysis for these two positions with detailed job specifications and job description. They also want you to advise them on the selection process for these positions.

You were working as the Public Relations Manager at Karachi Marriott Hotel and last week you made the General Manager of the hotel. How will you work on your transformation from a manager to a leader? What are the new qualities and thinking you will need to develop to fit the new Leadership role?

Pakistan International Airlines popularly known as PIA amongst the Asian airlines was seen as the leader in the sixties. It had many Firsts to its credit such as being the First airline from an Asian country to fly the Super Constellation. It was the first Asian airline to operate a jet aircraft.

New CEO of PIA Air Marshal Arshad Malik believes that the PIA has to improve Quality and performance at levels. He is seeking your help.

Since in your class you have studied one whole chapter on Managing Quality & Performance you would be the expert they need. On basis of your academic knowledge,you are being asked to give PIA your recommendations on how they can control quality and performance using four step feedback model and total quality management techniques. Show them how these will help manage quality and performance in PIA
