Task Summary:

For this task you are required to participate in three role plays with your assessor and classmates.

The first two role plays require you to respond to behaviours of concern. You must respond to each situation according to organisational policies and procedures and complete an Incident Report for each situation.

The third role play requires you to participate in a debriefing session.

This assessment is made up of three role plays:

• Part A: For this part of the task, you must take part in a role play responding to behaviours of concern and complete and incident report.
• Part B: For this part of the task, you must take part in a role play responding to another behaviour of concern and complete and incident report.
• Part C: For this part of the task, you must participate in a debriefing session, explaining the incident.

Role Play 1: Amy

You are employed as a support worker at First Access.

Amy, one of your clients has been very agitated today.

You see her walk up to another resident, Mohammad and begin to yell at him, accusing him of taking her book. Mohammad looks shocked and confused. Amy continues to yell abuse at Mohammad and then picks up a TV remote control and throws it towards him, she misses him and the TV remote smashes on the ground.

During the role play, your assessor will be looking to see that you can:

• respond appropriately to the behaviour of concern
• prioritise the safety of yourself and others
• ensure response reflects organisational procedures
• deal with the behaviour promptly, firmly and diplomatically
• respond to the behaviour using effective communication techniques
• select appropriate strategies to respond to the behaviour of concern

CHCCCS020 - Task 2 (Part A, B and C) Role Play Instructions Task 2 - Part A Role Play Instructions Role 1: Mohammad - played by another learner, family member, friend, assessor) Role of Mohammad (to be played by the assessor) During the role play you will play the role of Mohammad, you must stand across the room from Amy and appear shocked and confused as she comes towards you, yells at you and throws the remote control towards you. Observe the student as they play the role of the support worker and record your observations of their performance in the Assessor checklist. Role 2: Amy - played by another learner, family member, friend, assessor) During the role play you must appear to be very agitated (pacing, fidgeting, frowning, etc). Walk towards the person playing Mohammad and begin to yell at him. Accuse him of stealing your book and tell him that you 'want it back right now!' As you approach him, throw the remote control (or another object) towards him, without directly hitting him. At this point, the person playing the support worker should intervene. You may continue to yell and make accusations toward Mohammad as the support worker attempts to calm you. Follow the support worker's lead and begin to calm down within a few minutes.
