Project objective:

The Early Warning, Early Finance and Early Action Project (P173387) aims to ensure the food security of populations living in places of drought, create early warning systems to detect them, and have funding funds to address them.

• Drought early warning decision support system is established and operational

• Improved food security and nutrition outcomes for beneficiary households (gender disaggregated)

• Pre-arranged financing mechanisms for drought protection are established and operational

The project is based on 4 components that work together to establish a system-wide drought response system

Component	Objective
Early warning component	invests in the countrys drought forecasting capacity, as-well as the decision-making mechanisms to turn these forecasts into policy decisions.
Early action component	Establishes the infrastructure to distribute recurrent transfers to the most chronically food insecure, with the build in capacity to scale up when needed. Its combination of unconditional cash transfers, cash-for-work, and nutrition packages are intended to build household and community resilience.
Early finance component	Establish financing mechanisms to expand the availability of assistance when necessary.
Implementation Management Support and Institutional Strengthening component	Provides support to the project to ensure oversight and project delivery, including a robust monitoring and evaluation framework.
