Task: You will design a network model based upon a scenario of your choosing (scenario must have approval of the instructor). Goal: Design your network and document its performance. Some things to consider may be delay, throughput, download response time, utilization. What design elements worked well for performance of your network? What design elements did not work well? Deliverables: (1) Written report documenting your network design model and performance. Include screen shots of graphs to support your findings. The report should be at least 5 pages including your screen shots, but no more than 10 pages. Report specifications are as follows: Double spaced 12 point Times Roman font 1 margin on sides and bottom, 1 top margin Documents referenced should be noted at the end of the report under a Reference or Works Cited section Organizing Your Written Report: Introduction Under this section, you should identify the client and what their network specifications or requirements may be. Also, describe what challenges might be faced when designing this network. Think environmental factors, architectural factors, etc. Body This section will present the network model (topology) and results of network performance testing, using screen shots to support your findings. Conclusion Summarize the performance of your designed networks. What did you learn when testing the network design? Does the designed network meet the requirements of the client? What, if any, considerations need to be Page 1 of 2 made to ensure the network operates at optimal performance in the future? (2) Oral Presentation to class that should include a slide deck (Power Point recommended) discussing your network design and justification for network design considerations (e..g wireless v. wired connections, Bus topology vs. Star topology, etc.) Grading Policy for Report The paper will be reviewed for depth of technical content, coherence, grammar, spelling, and adherence to the submission criteria described in the scoring rubric. Use the guideline below to organize your material as you will be marked based on these guidelines. Item Points Good Introduction 20 Network Design and Analysis of Performance 25 Good Summary 10 General Organization of the Research 10 Technical Clarity in Report Flow ` 10 Oral Presentation 20 Within specified length and adherence to format 5 100
