Task/assessment brief: Select a well-established business-oriented organization (Medium or Large scale) in Apparel and textile industry in your area and assume yourself as management intern. Prepare a report by obtaining realistic and accurate data from the selected organization. Students are expected to collect only secondary data for the purpose of this assignment. Students are not expected to collect primary data for this assignment. 1. Identify the roles of manager using Mintzberg Managerial roles and essential skills needed in management to achieve the organizational goals (15 marks) 2. Explain the ways in how management theories can be useful in managing this organization. (15 marks) 3. Discuss the various environmental factors that a manager should consider when achieving organizational performance. Use examples to illustrate your answer (20 marks) 4. Examine how the selected organization do three levels of planning (Strategic, Tactical and Operational level planning) in order to achieve their objectives using examples related to your organisation. (15 marks) 5. Examine the logical relationship between division of work, departmentalization and coordination in the selected organization. (15 marks) 6. Discuss how different leadership styles used by the selected organization and, basic steps involved in the process of controlling in achieving organizational goals ( 20 marks) Note: Secondary data refers to data that is collected by someone other than the primary user. Common sources of secondary data for social science include; censuses, information collected by government departments, organizational records and data that was originally collected for other research purposes.
