Question: Tasks for Deliverable # 1 : 1 . Compute a single score for each predictor variable and each criterion variable a . Reverse - score

Tasks for Deliverable #1:
1. Compute a single score for each predictor variable and each criterion variable
a. Reverse-score all items that have (R) in the variable name
i. A reverse-scored item is scored in the opposite direction for example, if the range of indicator scores is 1 to 5, then a 5 becomes a 1, a 4 becomes a 2, a 3 remains a 3, a 2 becomes a 4, and a 1 becomes a 5
b. Once all relevant items have been reverse-scored, compute a scale score for aptitude, conscientiousness, integrity, interview, CWB, intentions to quit, and job performance.
i. Compute scale scores by averaging across all indicators or ratings for each predictor or criterion
ii. Age, sex, GPA, experience, and intelligence do not need to be calculated, as these predictors only have a single indicator (which is already a scale score)
2. Examine the item-level data and flag any individuals who exhibit careless responding or outlier values
a. Flag all participants who spend less than 2 seconds on each item (assuming the full survey included 32 total items)
b. Flag all participants who indicated an incorrect answer to the instructed item
c. Flag all participants who indicated the same answer to every item on the conscientiousness scale or the same answer to every item on the integrity scale
d. Flag all participants who have illegal values for any item for example, a value of two for sex or a value of zero on a scale that ranges from 1 to 7
3. Email your instructor with a final dataset
a. The final dataset should include a 1000x13 matrix of data (i.e., ID numbers and 12 scale scores for all 1000 individuals)
i. Please organize your 12 variables in the following order (left to right): (1) Age, (2) Aptitude, (3) Sex, (4) Conscientiousness, (5) GPA, (6) Integrity, (7) Intelligence, (8) Interview, (9) Experience, (10) CWB,(11) Intentions to Quit, (12) Performance
ii. A template can be found in the Analysis Data worksheet in the Excel file
b. The final dataset should indicate which individuals were flagged by highlighting the corresponding rows (i.e., the entire row must be highlighted) as follows:
i. Time screen: Yellow
ii. Instructed item screen: Green
iii. Same answer screen: Blue
iv. Outliers (illegal values) screen: Red
v. Individuals who were not flagged should have unhighlighted rows
What to turn in: An Excel file containing the completed Analysis Data worksheet, including the 12 scale scores for each of the 1000 individuals in the order specified by the template
How it will be graded: 50% accuracy of scale scores, 50% accuracy of careless responding flagging
