Your group needs to be prepared to present so that we have minimal transition time between groups. You need to come up with workable, specific suggestions to address the problem or opportunity, and you need to provide a clear rationale to back up your ideas. The Advanced Skills Centre will house trades programs that require specialized facilities and equipment. The building will be designed to replace NAIT's existing Souch and Patricia satellite campuses. It will be located in the existing main NAIT campus complex.The NAIT campus is large and a little confusing, and finding different buildings and sections within buildings will get even more confusing with a large new building in the mix, especially one with so many workshop$-$style classrooms. Your job in this assignment is to work with your team to research, analyze, and come up with a plan for how NAIT should design the wayfinding system for the new project. You will start preparing your project in class, work on it with your group outside of class time, and present your solution as a group to your classmates.Your presentation should include at least two types of analysis: process analysis, causal analysis, and classification and division analysis.However, this is a practical topic, and you need to walk around to analyze the current wayfinding systems on campus. Are the existing systems consistent? Are they effective? What works and what doesn't? Consider incorporating observational research, personal experience, and interviews with people who use the existing buildings.You could incorporate research material from other institutions for comparison. For example, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights designed its wayfinding material to maximize accessibility for visitors and employees. You will base your theoretical research on internet or library$-$based sources about best practices in wayfinding design.Understanding your target audiences of NAIT students, NAIT employees, and industry guests will also be important. When you make your recommendations, you can include a plan to revamp the wayfinding resources for the entire campus or only for the new building. If you choose to work on a plan that only applies to the new building, keep in mind that students will be moving between buildings, so ideally, you would want to include some consistency in design with at least one of the other buildings on campus.Depending on how in$-$depth you go in your research, you may need to narrow down the topic to address just one component of the wayfinding system.This is a topic that focuses on customer experience, so your presentation should include some visuals, which could include diagrams or flowcharts, as well as mock$-$ups of suggested designs. You don't have to be an artist or a graphic designer, however!We just need to see your suggestions in enough detail to understand what your overall strategy is and why your recommendations make sense. You will present your strategy in a PowerPoint presentation, but you could create your mock$-$ups in a hard$-$copy format and show them to the class by holding them up$,$ or you can create them digitally using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or even Al image generation tools.
