Texas Instruments uses thermal energy storage to make efficient use of electricity purchased from electric companies. It creates cold water or ice after normal business hours when electricity demand is lower and less costly. It stores this cold water or ice and then uses it during business hours to cool buildings and processes when electricity demand and costs are the high.
