The assignment for this semester is to write a paper that will describe and discuss the effects of substance or alcohol abuse or substance or alcohol dependence on normal growth and development during:

The paper is to be a minimum of five typed double spaced, and maximum of eight typewritten pages followed by one page of Bibliography for a total of six pages to nine pages. The font Times New Roman 12 point or equivalent is to be used. Each typed page is to contain approximately 250 words and a minimum of 3 citations. Please number your pages and put your name on each page.

The paper is to be composed of 4 main parts. Please use these parts as your headings.These parts are: 1. Introduction. Write why you are interested in this subject and why you consider it to be important. Citations that indicate the author and year of the source material must be included in the text. 2. The Topic Write about the topic you have selected. You are encouraged to use illustrations, charts, and tables to make your point. Citations that indicate the author and year of the source material must be included in the text. 3. Discussion. This is where you write your opinion about what you have learned, anything that surprised you, you disagreed with, and how you think it might impact client treatment. Citations that indicate the author and year of the source material must be included in the text. 4. Bibliography. This is where you give the full references for your citations

Students are required to use a minimum of 5 professional sources for citations. A minimum of two must be professional journals. Online sources are limited to professional journals and websites such as SAMHSA and NIMH which have excellent material.
