Question: The beam shown in Fig. Q - 2 has a span of 5 m with an overhang of 2 m . It is to carry

The beam shown in Fig. Q-2 has a span of 5m with an overhang of 2m. It is to carry a characteristic dead load inclusive of self-weight, gk, of 40kNm, and a characteristic imposed load, qk, of 50kNm. Material properties are: fck=30MPa; and fyk=500MPa. Assume zero support width. Minimum design load =1.0gk.
(a) Determine using design formulae, the flexural reinforcement required for the section at support B. Use an axis distance of 50mm for all longitudinal bars.
(b) Determine the location where 40% of the tension reinforcement required at support B may be curtailed within the span AB. Assume =45, H16 longitudinal bars, and good bond conditions, and neglect the presence of any transverse steel reinforcement.
(c) Verify the serviceability limit state of deflection for the overhang using allowable span-depth ratio, assuming no rotation at support B.
All dimensions are in mm unless otherwise stated.
